Join our client, a well-established and growing construction business based in Christchurch, as their next Accounts Administrator .
You'll be responsible for the day-to-day financial administration of the business, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll support, reconciliations and maintaining accurate financial records. Working closely with the management team and Project Managers, you'll play an important role in ensuring the financial operations of the business run smoothly. Key responsibilities
- Process supplier and subcontractor invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
- Match purchase orders, delivery dockets and invoices where required.
- Code invoices to the appropriate jobs, cost centres and general ledger accounts.
- Prepare weekly and monthly payment runs for approval.
- Raise customer invoices, progress claims and credit notes.
- Manage accounts receivable, including debtor follow-up and collections.
- Complete daily and monthly bank reconciliations.
- Assist with payroll processing and maintain accurate employee records.
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve invoice queries.
- Maintain accurate job costing information and project financial records.
- Support month-end processes, including reconciliations and reporting.
- Assist with cashflow administration and general finance reporting.
- Provide general administrative support to the wider office as required.
About you
- Previous experience in an Accounts Administrator, Finance Administrator, Accounts Officer or similar position.
- Experience using Xero, with exposure to MYOB or other cloud-based accounting systems being advantageous.
- Strong understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable and bank reconciliations.
- Payroll experience or a willingness to learn.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organisational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Confident communicator with the ability to build positive relationships across the business.
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
- Experience within the construction, civil or trades industry will be highly regarded but is not essential.
- A proactive attitude with a willingness to take ownership and continuously improve processes.
