Commercial Manager | Major Infrastructure Advisory

Our client is a highly regarded boutique commercial advisory consultancy experiencing significant growth across the infrastructure sector. Due to an expanding project pipeline, they are looking to appoint an experienced Commercial Manager to join their Sydney team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced commercial professional who is looking to move beyond traditional contract administration into a broader advisory role. Working alongside industry leaders, you'll gain exposure to procurement strategy, commercial governance, transaction management and major project advisory while continuing to support the delivery of complex infrastructure projects.

Unlike larger consultancies, this business offers direct access to senior leadership, genuine career progression and the opportunity to make a real impact as the team continues to grow.

The Role

You will provide commercial and contract management support across major infrastructure and capital projects, advising clients throughout the project lifecycle while also contributing to broader commercial advisory services.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing commercial and contract administration activities across major infrastructure projects.
  • Interpreting complex contract provisions and providing strategic commercial advice to clients and project teams.
  • Administering contractual obligations, including notices, payment claims, variations, extensions of time and contractual correspondence.
  • Assessing contractor variation and EOT claims, including entitlement, causation and quantum.
  • Managing commercial risk, project budgets, forecasts and financial reporting.
  • Supporting project controls through the integration of commercial, cost, risk and schedule information.
  • Preparing executive reports, governance documentation and commercial recommendations.
  • Supporting procurement strategy development and commercial governance initiatives.
  • Assisting with transaction management activities, including tender documentation, tender evaluations and contract negotiations.
  • Contributing to business development initiatives, proposal submissions and client engagement.
  • Mentoring junior commercial professionals and supporting the continued growth of the business.

About You

To be successful, you will ideally have:

  • Approximately 10+ years' experience in commercial or contract management within major infrastructure or capital projects.
  • Experience working on the client side, contractor side or within a consultancy environment.
  • A strong understanding of commercial risk allocation and standard forms of contract.
  • Demonstrated experience administering complex contracts throughout project delivery.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to provide strategic advice to senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience mentoring or leading junior commercial team members.
  • A degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Law or a related discipline.
  • Professional memberships such as RICS, AIPM or similar are advantageous but not essential.

What's on Offer

This is an opportunity to join a growing specialist consultancy where you'll gain exposure to a diverse range of commercial advisory services rather than being confined to a single project or discipline.

You'll work on some of Australia's most significant infrastructure projects within a collaborative, high-performing team that values initiative, flexibility and professional development. With a strong pipeline of upcoming work across both government and private sector clients, this role offers genuine long-term career progression and the opportunity to help shape the future growth of the business.

If you're looking for a role that combines hands-on commercial management with broader strategic advisory work, we'd love to hear from you.
