The Design Manager is responsible for leading the design management function across major construction and development projects, ensuring design excellence from project inception through to completion.

Working closely with clients, consultants, contractors and internal stakeholders, this role drives the successful delivery of high-quality, commercially viable and innovative design solutions. As a senior leader within the business, the Design Manager provides strategic direction to the design team while contributing to business planning, client engagement and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design management function across the full project lifecycle, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme and within budget.
  • Drive design strategy, consultant coordination, procurement and value engineering to achieve commercially successful, high-quality project outcomes.
  • Champion innovation, sustainability and continuous improvement by implementing best practice design management processes, standards and emerging technologies.
  • Provide leadership to multidisciplinary teams, build strong client and stakeholder relationships, and contribute to business growth through strategic planning and opportunity identification.
Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years' experience in Design Management across major construction or development projects.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering complex or mission-critical projects.
  • Strong understanding of design coordination, procurement, consultant management and project delivery.
  • Excellent leadership, stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Highly developed commercial acumen with the ability to balance quality, programme and budget objectives.
  • Strong problem-solving, organisational and decision-making abilities.
