About the Role
As a Data Centre Facilities Electrician, you’ll play a vital role in a high-performing team responsible for maintaining critical infrastructure in a live data centre environment. Utilising electrical as your core trade you will apply your expertise to ensure the reliable operation of electrical systems including UPS, generators, security, cooling infrastructure and building automation platforms. In this customer-facing role, you’ll also take ownership of planned and reactive works relating to client environments, supporting service excellence and uptime. Your attention to detail and trade knowledge will directly contribute to the performance, safety, and availability of customer systems housed within our facility.

Your week will involve:
 
  • Providing timely technical support and assisting with daily operations
  • Assessing and executing customer projects and requests to the highest standards
  • Managing facilities-related ticket queues and collating all service records
  • Directly supervising contractors and supporting overall contractor management
  • Keeping up to date on plant, equipment/systems, DC operations and customer SLAs
  • Helping with on-call coverage (1 in every 4 weeks) 
  • Customer supervision and assistance, (Work Requests and Urgent Access Requests)
  • Making sure inspections and documentation comply with Health & Safety obligations
  • Proactively handling breakdowns and operational issues whilst mitigating risk
  • Driving the general cleanliness of the facilities
  • Utilisation of internal software and systems, producing reports and other adhoc tasks
Who You Are:
 
  • You’re a trade-qualified Electrician
  • You’re willing to learn or experienced in Data Centre infrastructure including Communications, UPS, Generators, BMS, HVAC and Security
  • You understand what it takes to maintain high-availability environments
  • You can work independently but collaborate well within a small, skilled team
  • You’re cool under pressure and thrive in high-responsibility situations
  • You’re solutions-focused and driven to make improvements
  • You take pride in being organised, proactive, and dependable
  • You can obtain (or already hold) NV1 security clearance

Desirable Skills:

Electrical
  • Current Electrical Licence
  • Knowledge of AS3000 wiring rules
  • Experience with UPS, generators, control systems, switchboards
HVAC
  • Strong understanding of chilled water and CRAC/CRAH/AHU systems
BMS
  • Familiar with trending, diagnostics and tuning
  • Comfortable with proprietary and open protocol systems (Modbus, BACnet)
Communications
  • Experience with structured cabling, fibre, and patching
  • Knowledge of various network layouts
