Wyborn Capital is a privately owned family office with a diverse investment portfolio spanning property, finance and equities. The business takes a long-term approach to investment and has established a strong presence across its portfolio.
The finance function plays an important role in supporting investment activities, financial management and informed decision-making across the business.
Wyborn Capital is investing in AI and technology to enhance and modernise its finance function. This role offers the opportunity to play a key role in shaping how the finance function operates and supporting the wider family office.
Your Role
This is a unique opportunity for a CA-qualified accountant to take ownership of the group’s financial operations while helping transform and modernise the finance function through AI, automation and process improvement.
Initially hands-on across accounting, reporting, tax and financial control, the role will progressively move towards higher-value analysis, reporting and commercial support as processes are streamlined.
Working closely with the CFO, you’ll have genuine ownership and the opportunity to shape how the finance function operates.
- Own the day-to-day finance function across a multi-entity family office, including accounting, reconciliations, payments and general ledger integrity
- Prepare monthly management reporting, cash flow forecasts, budgets, forecasts and financial analysis for senior leadership
- Manage New Zealand tax and statutory compliance, including GST, PAYE, RWT, FBT and income tax
- Oversee property and group accounting, including rental income, expenses, arrears, intercompany transactions and property reporting
- Maintain strong financial controls and ensure the accuracy and integrity of Xero, Re-Leased and related financial systems
- Use Claude and ChatGPT daily to identify opportunities to simplify, improve and automate finance processes
- Design and implement practical AI-enabled workflows that reduce manual work and improve efficiency, reporting and controls
- Identify and document process improvements, measuring the impact of automation and continuously looking for new opportunities
- Support the CFO with budgeting, investment analysis, treasury, commercial decision-making and ad hoc financial projects
- Maintain strict confidentiality and ensure all financial and personal information is handled appropriately
About You
We’re looking for a CA-qualified accountant with 3–6 years’ post-qualification experience who combines strong technical accounting skills with a genuine passion for using AI.
You’ll ideally have:
- CA qualified through Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, or equivalent, with 3–6 years’ post-qualification experience
- Proven daily use of Claude and ChatGPT, with the ability to demonstrate how you apply and validate AI in your work
- Demonstrated experience using AI to improve or automate a finance process
- Strong practical knowledge of New Zealand tax and financial reporting
- Sound judgement around financial controls, data security and AI verification
- Advanced Excel and strong Xero capability, with the ability to quickly learn new systems
