You'll play a key role in establishing Adelaide as a regional centre of engineering excellence, working across major industrial and defence-related projects.
The Role
As the Lead Design Manager, you will:

- Build, lead and mentor the Adelaide-based design team, growing local engineering capability and progressively reducing reliance on overseas design support.
- Develop and manage the design programme, deliverables schedule and design review milestones in line with the project programme.
- Manage third-party design consultants and specialist advisers, including scoping, technical direction and deliverable review.
- Maintain the design interface register and drive interface identification, resolution and close-out across disciplines and stakeholders.
- Manage the assumptions register and technical query process, ensuring design assumptions are progressively closed out.
- Plan and chair design reviews, and coordinate design inputs to HAZOP, constructability, operability and maintainability workshops.
- 10+ years of engineering experience on industrial, infrastructure or defence projects, including 5+ years in design management or lead engineering roles.
- Demonstrated experience managing multidisciplinary design teams and third-party design consultants on design and construct or design-supply-install projects.
- Strong track record in interface management, design review leadership and design change control.
- Working knowledge of Australian Standards and WHS safety in design obligations applicable to industrial facilities.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (mechanical, electrical or related discipline) required.
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status or NER registration preferred.
- Lead the engineering design function on major industrial and defence infrastructure projects.
- Build and mentor a growing multidisciplinary engineering team.
- Influence engineering standards, innovation and technical excellence.
- Work on landmark projects with genuine long-term career progression.
- Competitive executive salary package and flexible working environment.
