Leading Hand Carpenter | Multi-Storey Hotel | Hunter Valley

Short description:
Experienced Leading Hand Carpenter required for a fast-paced multi-storey hotel build, working across suspended PT slabs and multiple structural work fronts.

The Opportunity

I’m working with an established head contractor delivering a $26m+ multi-storey hotel development in the Hunter Valley.

With structural works progressing, they are looking for an experienced Leading Hand Carpenter to join the site team from late September / early October.

This is a hands-on Leading Hand position working closely with an experienced Structures Foreman and Site Manager. You’ll still have the nail bag on while helping coordinate trades, labour and structural works across a fast-moving site.

The project consists of a multi-level hotel with suspended post-tensioned slabs, multiple deck construction and a rooftop pool/spa, with several work fronts operating concurrently.

The Role

  • Hands-on Leading Hand Carpenter position
  • Assist with delivery of the structural package
  • Multi-deck construction and suspended slab works
  • Post-tensioned concrete structure
  • Coordinate trades and labour on the ground
  • Assist with sequencing and day-to-day site planning
  • Maintain quality and safety standards
  • Work closely with the Structures Foreman and Site Manager
  • Help keep multiple work fronts moving to programme

About You

This role needs someone who has already worked on multi-deck construction and understands the pace and sequencing involved. Someone coming purely from low-rise or residential carpentry will struggle with the complexity of the structure.

You will ideally have:

  • Carpentry trade background
  • Previous Leading Hand experience
  • Multi-deck construction experience – essential
  • Suspended / post-tensioned slab experience
  • Commercial or multi-storey construction background
  • Comfortable being hands-on while coordinating others
  • Strong understanding of structural sequencing
  • Forklift / Manitou ticket highly regarded
  • White Card
  • First Aid advantageous

You’ll be joining a good, experienced project team with a Site Manager, Structures Foreman and Fitout Foreman already in place.

The initial project runs for approximately 17+ months, with additional works planned alongside the main development.
