Redpath Partners is partnering with a leading consultancy to recruit a Project Controls Engineer to join its multidisciplinary team. This is an opportunity to work across major infrastructure, rail, energy and construction projects, contributing to the successful delivery of complex projects through robust project controls, data analysis and performance management.

The role offers exposure to a broad range of project controls disciplines, working closely with clients and internal teams to provide meaningful insights that support informed decision-making and improved project outcomes.

The Role

As a Project Controls Engineer, you will contribute across planning and scheduling, cost management, risk analysis, performance reporting, project assurance and digital project controls. You will work as part of a collaborative, high-performing team, helping clients understand project performance, manage risk and make informed commercial and delivery decisions.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and maintaining project schedules, undertaking critical path analysis, schedule optimisation and progress assessments.

  • Supporting cost management, forecasting, Earned Value Management (EVM) and performance reporting.

  • Contributing to Quantitative Schedule Risk Analysis (QSRA) and Quantitative Cost Risk Analysis (QCRA).

  • Preparing project controls reports, dashboards and executive-level presentations.

  • Analysing project data and developing digital reporting solutions using tools such as Power BI, Power Query, SQL, Python or VBA.

  • Supporting project governance, assurance reviews, change control and performance improvement initiatives.

  • Assisting with Extension of Time (EOT) assessments, delay analysis, claims support and forensic scheduling.

  • Building strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and colleagues to deliver high-quality project outcomes.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring a strong analytical mindset, a collaborative approach and an interest in understanding how projects are delivered commercially and how value is created for clients.

You will ideally have:

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in project controls across infrastructure, rail, energy, construction or other major project environments.

  • Experience in planning and scheduling, cost management, risk analysis and performance reporting.

  • Knowledge of project controls methodologies, including Earned Value Management and project governance frameworks.

  • Exposure to forecasting, QSRA, QCRA or similar analytical processes.

  • Experience with digital and reporting tools such as Power BI, SQL, Python, VBA or Power Query.

  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse complex information and develop practical solutions.

  • Excellent report writing, presentation and stakeholder communication skills.

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Quantity Surveying, Commerce or a related discipline.

Exposure to delay analysis, claims support, forensic scheduling or dispute resolution would be advantageous. Membership of, or progress towards, a relevant professional body and relevant industry certifications are also desirable.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

  • Work across a diverse range of major projects and project controls disciplines.

  • Develop your technical expertise in risk, cost, scheduling and performance management.

  • Contribute to a workplace that values community, reconciliation, inclusion, sustainability and philanthropy.
