Project Manager – Data Centre | Owner Operator Location: Sydney

The Opportunity

A leading owner, developer and operator of critical infrastructure assets is seeking a Project Manager to join its Sydney team.

This opportunity would suit someone currently working within an owner-operator environment or an experienced professional looking to transition from a head contractor, building services contractor or engineering environment into an owner-side role.

Working across both office and site environments, the successful candidate will gain exposure across the full project lifecycle, including front-end feasibility, design development, procurement, construction, commissioning and operational handover.

The role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to key project decisions, participate in design meetings and develop broader front-end development experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the end-to-end delivery of complex data centre and critical infrastructure projects
  • Contribute to front-end feasibility, project planning and design development
  • Participate in design meetings and provide practical buildability and delivery input
  • Coordinate consultants, contractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders
  • Support procurement, tendering and contractor appointment processes
  • Assist with project programme, budget, risk and quality management
  • Oversee and coordinate mechanical and electrical services packages
  • Monitor contractor performance and project delivery outcomes
  • Identify and manage project risks, interfaces and delivery constraints
  • Support construction delivery, testing, commissioning and operational handover
  • Maintain strong relationships across internal teams and external project partners

About You

The ideal candidate will have experience delivering data centre projects or working within technically complex, services-intensive environments.

You will have a strong understanding of how projects are designed, coordinated and delivered, with experience across mechanical, electrical or building services considered highly advantageous.

Suitable backgrounds may include:

  • Project Manager or Junior Project Manager
  • Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer
  • Mechanical or Electrical Project Engineer
  • Services Engineer or Services Manager
  • Mechanical or electrical services contractor
  • Trade background combined with project delivery experience

Skills & Experience

  • Relevant experience within construction, engineering, infrastructure or building services
  • Strong understanding of project delivery and construction methodologies
  • Exposure to mechanical and/or electrical services packages
  • Experience coordinating consultants, contractors and key stakeholders
  • Ability to understand drawings, programmes, scopes and project documentation
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Commercial awareness with an understanding of programme, cost and project risk
  • Confidence contributing to design and project delivery meetings
  • Ability to work effectively across both office and site environments

Previous data centre experience is highly regarded but not essential. Candidates from other complex, services-intensive project environments will also be considered.
