This is an excellent opportunity for a CA/CPA qualified Financial Accountant to join a high-calibre finance team and gain broad exposure across property funds, listed and unlisted investment structures, hospitality assets and a global real estate platform.
The Role
Based in Sydney, the role sits within the Australian Finance team and will have responsibility for the day-to-day finance and accounting operations across a portfolio of investment structures.
The position will provide broad exposure across financial reporting, statutory compliance, taxation, audit, budgeting, cash flow and process improvement, while working closely with internal stakeholders, external advisers, auditors, trustees, property managers and hotel finance teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including accounting entries, consolidations, reconciliations and financial analysis.
- Prepare statutory financial statements, supporting schedules and audit deliverables.
- Manage BAS, IAS and income tax compliance and coordinate external tax requirements.
- Oversee cash flow activities, payment processes and bank reconciliations across multiple entities.
- Liaise with auditors, trustees and external advisers across finance, tax and compliance matters.
- Partner with hotel financial controllers and property managers on period-end reporting and operational finance.
- Assist with annual budgets, forecasts and management reporting.
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations and resolve accounting issues.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve financial and operational matters.
- Contribute to finance transformation, systems enhancements and process improvement initiatives.
- Support Oracle/ERP improvements, projects and other ad hoc finance initiatives.
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- CA/CPA qualification or be close to completion.
- 5+ years' relevant accounting and finance experience.
- Experience within property funds, real estate, hospitality, trusts or investment structures.
- Strong financial reporting, statutory reporting and compliance experience.
- Sound knowledge of accounting standards, taxation and regulatory requirements.
- Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
- Experience with Oracle ERP, Cognos Controller or similar systems will be advantageous.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with excellent attention to detail.
- The ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
