This private seniors living property developer are seeking their next addition to the in house Design team, who will interface with their construction team.
The Senior Interior Designer leads the design and delivery of interior environments across aged care developments, ensuring spaces are functional, compliant, and enhance resident wellbeing. This role combines creative leadership with technical expertise, particularly in healthcare and senior living environments.
Overseeing new build and refurbishment developments nationally, travel will be required for site visits.
Key Responsibilities
Design Leadership
Lead interior design concepts from briefing through to completion
Develop mood boards, material palettes, and detailed documentation
Ensure designs align with brand identity, resident comfort, and operational needs
Project Delivery
Manage multiple projects across planning, design, and construction phases
Coordinate with architects, consultants, and contractors
Oversee FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment) selection and specification
Conduct site visits to ensure design integrity during construction
Stakeholder Management
Liaise with client/operator, to understand requirements
Present design concepts and revisions clearly to stakeholders
Balance aesthetics, budget, and regulatory requirements
Builder/sub-contractor relationship management
Compliance & Technical Expertise
Ensure adherence to Australian standards and aged care regulations
Apply knowledge of accessibility, safety, and infection control principles
Required Skills & Experience
7–10+ years of interior design experience, ideally in healthcare or aged care
Strong portfolio demonstrating built projects
Deep understanding of Australian building codes and standards
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Strong project management and coordination abilities
Preferred Qualifications
Degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture
Experience with aged care providers or healthcare operators
Knowledge of dementia-friendly design principles
Familiarity with procurement and supplier coordination
Key Competencies

Attention to detail and technical accuracy
Empathy-driven design thinking
Time and budget management
Collaboration across multidisciplinary teams
