Technical Services Manager
Reporting to the Senior Technical Services Manager, the Technical Services Manager will work closely with the Operations team to ensure safe, reliable and compliant operation of a critical data centre environment.
The role will be responsible for a defined area of the site or customer portfolio, acting as the operational lead for that area and escalating key issues and requirements to the Senior Technical Services Manager.
Key responsibilities include:
- Support the Senior Technical Services Manager across all aspects of data centre operations, with a focus on availability, reliability and customer SLA performance.
- Act as the primary operational contact for the site's Facilities Provider, overseeing facilities management, Smart Hands, security and other third-party service providers.
- Lead the planning and coordination of preventive maintenance, repairs, operational expenditure and change activities.
- Manage incident and change processes, coordinating with customers where required.
- Work closely with Development and Project teams on construction activity, installations, testing and commissioning to ensure operational standards are met.
- Ensure site operating procedures, including SOPs, MOPs and EOPs, are maintained and followed.
- Maintain compliance with relevant regulatory, safety, environmental and industry requirements.
- Support compliance across relevant information security and operational accreditations.
- Act as the primary operational contact for customers and local escalation point during incidents and emergency events.
- Attend equipment witness testing and commissioning activities, ensuring operational documentation is complete and accurate.
- Manage delivery of data centre services including connectivity, power and customer deployments.
- Lead minor capital projects across customer and internal requirements.
- Monitor operational performance, analyse data and identify potential risks.
- Conduct regular site inspections.
- Participate in the on-call incident response roster.
Requirements
- 5+ years' experience across mechanical and electrical operations, ideally within data centres, facilities, engineering operations or a related environment.
- Strong understanding of critical infrastructure operations and maintenance.
- Ability to develop and review Methods of Procedure, incident reports, emergency event summaries, root cause analyses and O&M documentation.
- Experience managing third-party service providers, including reviewing and negotiating service proposals and pricing.
- Familiarity with BMS and Computerised Maintenance Management Systems.
- Ability to obtain and maintain the required Australian Government security clearance.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical, operational and customer-facing teams.
- Flexible, forward-thinking approach with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving environment.
- Strong customer management skills and experience leading operational meetings.
- Willingness to work as part of an on-call operational roster.
